Privacy Policy
OfferBuddy (“we”, “us”) is an AI-powered job application assistant available at offerbuddy.io and through the OfferBuddy browser extension. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.
In short: Google is used only to sign you in. The browser extension reads job-page content on SEEK and Indeed only when you choose to save or track a job. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information we collect
Authentication information
When you sign in with Google, we receive basic account information needed to create and authenticate your OfferBuddy account. This typically includes your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile photo URL.
We use Google only for authentication. We do not receive or store your Google password, and we do not use Google sign-in to access your Gmail or other Google services beyond the OAuth identity needed to log you in.
Account and application data
To provide the product, we store information you create or save in OfferBuddy, such as:
- Your OfferBuddy profile details associated with your signed-in account
- Job applications and related status history
- Job details you save or confirm (for example title, company, location, description, salary, work type, and source URL)
- Product usage needed to operate core features (for example session state and feature requests you make while signed in)
Website content from job boards (browser extension)
If you install the OfferBuddy browser extension, it can read job-page content on supported sites (currently SEEK and Indeed) so it can capture job facts when you explicitly save or track an application. Depending on the page, this may include:
- Job title, company, location, and job description text
- Optional fields such as salary, work type, and posted date when available
- Job URL and platform job identifiers needed to avoid duplicates and keep tracking reliable
- Limited page signals needed to detect supported apply workflows
The extension does not scrape unrelated browsing history. It is limited to the supported job-board hosts declared in the extension permissions, and capture is tied to your intentional use of OfferBuddy actions.
Technical and security data
Like most web services, our servers may process technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, timestamps, and diagnostic logs needed to secure the service, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot errors.
2. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure
- Create, display, and update your job applications
- Provide job-related features such as eligibility review and job intelligence derived from saved job content
- Connect the browser extension to your OfferBuddy account
- Operate, maintain, and improve the service
- Respond to support requests and meet legal obligations
Where AI-assisted features process job content, that processing is for providing OfferBuddy product functionality to you (for example extracting or summarizing job-relevant signals). We do not sell that content as a standalone dataset.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information only in these limited cases:
- Service providers that help us run OfferBuddy (for example hosting, authentication with Google, and infrastructure). They process data on our instructions and only as needed to provide their services.
- Legal requirements if we are required to disclose information to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
- Safety and integrity when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, security, or safety of OfferBuddy, our users, or the public.
4. Browser extension permissions
The OfferBuddy extension requests only the permissions needed for its stated
purpose: storing limited extension state, communicating with
https://offerbuddy.io, and accessing supported SEEK and Indeed pages
so you can capture and track applications while browsing.
The extension does not use your Google OAuth tokens or website session cookies as a long-lived credential for background access.
5. Data retention
We retain account and application data for as long as your account remains active and as needed to provide the service. Technical logs are kept for a limited period for security and operations, then deleted or aggregated.
If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal data associated with your account within a reasonable period, except where we must keep limited information for legal, security, or dispute-resolution reasons.
6. Your choices and rights
You can:
- Access and update application information inside OfferBuddy while signed in
- Disconnect or uninstall the browser extension at any time
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information

7. Security
We use industry-standard protections appropriate to our stage, including HTTPS, authenticated sessions, and access controls between the browser extension and OfferBuddy backend. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
8. Children’s privacy
OfferBuddy is intended for adults seeking employment. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
9. International users
OfferBuddy is operated from Australia. If you access the service from another country, your information may be processed in Australia or in other locations where our service providers operate.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the updated policy at this URL. Continued use of OfferBuddy after an update means you accept the revised policy.
